
Wynberg Boys’ High School delivered a commanding performance on Saturday afternoon, overpowering Parel Vallei 59–13 in front of a passionate home crowd. The visitors combined physical dominance with clinical backline execution to secure one of their biggest wins of the season.
The match began with encouraging signs for Parel Vallei, who struck early through a sharp interception and try from scrum-half Michael Kent, energizing the local supporters. Fly-half Stephan Niemann slotted the conversion, followed by two well-taken penalties from Shudley Rhoda to keep the home side in touch. At halftime, Wynberg led 21–13, with the match still hanging in the balance.
But after the break, Wynberg lifted their intensity and pulled away with ruthless precision. The visitors ran in eight tries in total, showcasing their depth and skill across all positions. Wing Albert Lourens bagged a brace, while the forward pack, led by their dynamic lock and prop combination, set the platform with dominant scrums and quick ball at the breakdown.
Fly-half Achmat Behardien was instrumental, controlling the game with poise and converting eight of his team’s tries, along with a penalty to round off an outstanding personal performance.
Despite their brave first-half effort, Parel Vallei struggled to maintain momentum. Unforced errors and missed tackles crept into their game as Wynberg exploited space and punished every lapse in concentration.
The home side showed grit in defense at times but couldn’t hold off the wave of pressure that Wynberg applied in the final 30 minutes.
